Defending Champions Manchester United went top of the table of EPL for the 1st time this season after they whipped hapless Wigan 4-0 at Old Trafford. It was their biggest wins this season following their mostly games of 1-0 wins. They were totally a different side of team compared to last week sloppy lucky 1-0 win over Birmingham last weekend. They dominated against Wigan but only managed to breakthrough in the 54th minute when Tevez scored with a superbly taken effort. He held off a strong challenge from the 2 defenders after a great through-ball by Rooney before creating space for himself to fire low past Kirkland. Five minutes later an easy header by Ronaldo make it 2-0. He made it 3-0 after 76 minutes when Pique made a splendid through-ball to Rooney and he perfectly placed a low cross for Ronaldo to score from the simplest of chances. 8 minutes from time, Rooney completed the rout with a header to mark his 1st ever league goal of the season after an excellent cross by Danny Simpson who made his 2nd appearance for his club. Nevertheless tribute to the Devils backlines who notched a sixth-successive league time sheet. Although Vidic and O'shea were substituted cause by injuries within the first half hour, Pique and Simpson made a splendid partnership with Ferdinand and Evra to deny Wigan to create any chances. Wigan had only one great chance but Kuszczak made a great save to keep the cleansheet. At Villa park, Aston Villa beat West Ham 1-0 with a deflected goal from Gardner.
